Improving Colon Function With Probiotics
The colon is one of the major organs of the body. It processes wastes. However, if these wastes are not moved out of the body then health problems can result. It is then important to pay attention to your colon. Your colon may not be functioning properly if you don’t have at least one bowel movement a day.
Flora is the good bacteria found in our digestive system. . It is responsible for processing and breaking down the food we eat. Taking a round of antibiotics can eliminate the flora, making the colon unable to work properly.
Some of the ways to increase the amount of flora in our digestive system include natural sources such as kefir and yogurt, as well as probiotic supplements.
Here are some ways for you to make your colon work properly through natural ways:
* Eat eight ounces of yogurt every day. Eat the natural yogurt that comes from organic sources and that has been cultured naturally. Do this for two weeks to attain the proper balance.
* Add four ounces of naturally cultured kefir to your meals. You can add it to your fruit smoothie at breakfast. Alternatively, you can buy natural kefir with fruits already added. Unsweetened kefirs are preferable since you don’t need the additional sugar. Also try to choose brands that have at least ten different sources of bacteria or enzymes.
* Take probiotic supplements that contain at least five million probiotics from at least ten different resources. Choose the ones that need to be refrigerated. This way, you’re assured that you’re taking in live cultures (bacteria/enzymes). Others may not be as effective. Keep your probiotics refrigerated and take in the recommended daily usage. There should be an improvement in your elimination within a couple of days.
Keep in mind that a dedication and commitment to your diet is necessary to improve and maintain the balance of flora in your digestive system. Continue your routine everyday to get the most benefit.
