A Few Healthy Egg Breakfasts To Try

Adding one egg to your breakfast has been shown to be more gratifying than something else, such as a bagel, with the same number of calories in it. It has been reported that people feel fuller and don’t feel the need for any snacks before lunchtime. Even if you are watching your cholesterol, the high protein and moderate fat of a daily egg has its benefits. Here are six healthy egg breakfasts to try for yourself.

A breakfast taco is quick, easy, and a delicious start to a day. You will need a corn tortilla, salsa, reduced-fat cheddar cheese, and an egg. Place cheese and salsa on a tortilla and place in the microwaves for thirty seconds, while that is heating, scramble your egg. Afterwards, place the scrambled egg inside the tortilla, fold up as you would a normal taco, and enjoy.

A spinach and tomato omelet is a colorful and flavorful treat that provides the protein of eggs and vegetables. All you need are some halved cherry tomatoes, a sliced scallion, some baby spinach, and an egg. In a nonstick skillet, cook tomatoes and scallions until softened and then place the spinach on top and cover for about thirty seconds. Uncover and stir up your vegetable and then add your egg and continue to cook, stirring constantly. When done, sprinkle a bit of cheese over top, cover until cheese is melted, fold the omelet over, and enjoy.

If you are a burrito lover, a quick scrambled egg burrito would be the perfect start to your day. All you need is a whole-wheat flour tortilla, an egg, some green chilies, some low-fat cheddar cheese, reduced-fat sour cream, and your favorite salsa with black beans. Scramble the egg and chilies together until they are nice and fluffy. Then place the eggs inside the tortilla and add some cheese, you can either add the salsa and sour cream onto the burrito or dip the burrito into them.

Egg whites can also turn out beautifully when done right, especially in an egg sandwich. You will need egg whites, turkey bacon, tomatoes, and nonfat cheddar cheese. Scramble the egg whites and then place on top of your bread and top with cheese, tomatoes, and turkey bacon for a tasty, healthy breakfast.

If you prefer muffins to bread, you can use a whole-grain English muffin instead. In this version, you can replace the turkey bacon with some spinach. Toast the muffin and place your spinach on first, then add a slice of cheese and place in microwave a few seconds until the cheese is melted. Then add your egg and a slice of tomato and enjoy your breakfast.

To add onto the easy recipes, you can make a frittata Italiana. You will need nonfat soft cream cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh basil, and two egg whites for this colorful dish. Mix the egg whites and cream cheese together and then pour into a hot skillet. When it starts to set, add tomatoes and basil leaves. Let it cook covered for about two minutes until done. When ready, slide onto a plate, cut into wedges, and serve with whole-grain toast.
