Make Your Bathroom Look Larger
A small bathroom is no stranger to many houses. A large bathroom is actually more of an unlikely sight. Small however can be incredible with decorations perfect for a small bathroom.
Surprise! Your small bathroom doesn’t have to fall under this category. It can be a special nook in your house. Sure, a minute space compared to the other rooms but one that is cozy, comfortable and cute!
Because you can’t do much about the size unless you bring down the walls and extend the space, you can just create the illusion of a bigger bathroom. Now how’s that for magic? The items you need on hand are mirrors. Mirrors make a room look bigger. You can have a large mirror on the wall or group smaller mirrors in different spots in the bathroom.
Nothing makes a small area seem smaller than clutter. Cut the clutter to make the bathroom more attractive in general. Instead of hanging numerous towels, at most hang one pair in a light tone coordinated with the color(s) of the bathroom. Rather than displaying many small artistic pieces, select only one. Avoid using numerous small accessories, stick to just one. Whatever you do not need, stash it out of sight. Ridding the room of clutter will instantly make it appear more spacious.
A bath door looks really nice but is more at place in a big bathroom. For a small space, it only serves as a visual obstruction, which means it shrinks the appearance of the room. Opt for a shower curtain or a clear glass. You can see all the way to the back wall, which makes for a bigger room.
Next, create an illusion of a bigger space by using the right lighting. Dim light may be all soft and warm but if not adjusted properly, it can make your small bathroom look even smaller.
Avoid using too many decorations to open up space. Only use those that you need. Similarly, organize your bath essentials by using containers instead of letting your stuff lie around. A messy bathroom is not only a major turn off but also makes it more crowded.
One decor that you shouldn’t miss is the area rug. The lack of accessories won’t be a problem with a piece of fabric on the floor to highlight the entire space. A light-colored area rug will help in making the bathroom look more spacious but if you prefer contrast, you can use an area rug with a rich color like red, brown or turquoise.
In choosing an area rug, go for one made of chenille or cotton. These materials dry easily, which makes them ideal for bathroom use. You would want a rug that is quick-dry to avoid accumulation of mold. Don’t use a woven fiber rug as this takes a while to dry and is not an easy maintenance material.
Home Design experts all agree that it is essential to use area rugs. And as discussed here one of the most popular ranges is the indoor outdoor area rugs.
